Make Goals, Not Resolutions

Who has ever made a New Year’s Resolution and stuck with it the whole year? Yeah, neither have I, but good for you if you were able to answer, “Yes” to that question. It is for that very reason, of not sticking to my resolutions, that I have decided to not make any resolutions for this coming year, but instead I will be setting goals for myself to accomplish this year. By setting goals for myself, it gives me something almost tangible to plan for and if you have ever read my blog before, you know how important I think planning is in achieving anything. Therefore, my 2014 goals are as follows:

1)      get rid of another 132 lbs. (which would bring me to a weight-loss total of 250 lbs.)
2)      be taken off all prescription medicines, except for one
3)      participate in my first 5k
4)      be able to bike from Langhorne Rd. to Percival’s Island on the Blackwater Creek Trail
5)      participate in the Virginia 4-miler
6)   continue to help others with starting their weight-loss journeys

7)      apply the same discipline I have displayed in my weight-loss journey to other areas of my life, like; education, finances, and spiritual life

I wish everyone a very Happy New Year, but please be safe and responsible!!! As of the writing of this post, I have gotten rid of a total of 118 lbs in 24 weeks.

  1. My name is Kim and I have just learned about your journey. I started reading from the beginning yesterday and here I am today--on this post. It's august and I wanted to check in on your goals. How's it going? I know the 4-miler is coming up. Is that still a goal of yours? How about the biking? I love to bike and I love how the city is putting up bike lanes here and there. I just saw some new ones up 12th st.

      Goals Update, thus far:
      1) I am well on my way, currently have gotten rid of 217 lbs.
      2) This should occur mid-October.
      3) Not yet, but looking forward to it in the cooler months of the Fall.
      4) I have been unable to save enough money yet for a bike, however I can almost walk the entire trail now.
      5) Impatiently anticipating the last weekend of September and leading a team called Bubba's Team!
      6) Done! 3 new people already and hopefully more very soon! :)
      7) Work in progress but going very well.

Thanks again for checking in on my goals and coming along on this journey with me!
